We conducted extensive research to understand the digital news publishing process. After spending a lot of up close and personal time with our news team, we came up with the pilot BEE, which featured smart simultaneous editing with real-time updates (think Google Docs but better due to media embed capability) and flexible modular interface.

To help us understand their system, we had one-on-one interviews with users who were working with the older Toolbelt CMS. We learned about their roles and work, how they use Toolbelt on a daily basis, identified their pain-points, and asked what would help enhance their workflow.
